Praise God! RM’s 2021 outdoor fundraising events came to a successful conclusion at the end of August!

"Turning Crisis into Opportunity" is this year’s theme. Through the video, we saw children with disabilities and their families in China facing many challenges during the pandemic. Through your generous support and our collaborations with our field worker YY and friends in China, we were able to continue our work among visually impaired college students and children with autism and/or cerebral palsy. Through the support they received, they were able to ride over the difficulties and have strength to turn crises into opportunities.  These two fundraisers highlight the beautiful teamwork between co-workers and faithful volunteers here in the US and other parts of the world, including China.

A group of professional brothers and sisters in China helped create the graphic design and produce this year’s unique theme and video.

Despite the dire pandemic situation, we’re thankful about 150 guests – pastors, brothers and sisters from various walks of life, and friends from all over the world -- participated in the two events. Their ages ranged from 2½ to the 90s. Many served in different capacities on stage and behind the scenes.  We are grateful to everyone who was involved in the process from planning to promoting and finally to serving at the actual events.  Even little children eagerly helped sell raffle tickets to raise funds for disabled children in China. Together we raised more than US $50,000.

We were very encouraged to see family involvement in this year’s fundraisers. Special thanks to parents who set the great example and inspired the next generations to expand their horizons and bless the disadvantaged with loving actions.  We hope you will do likewise next year, bringing your family to participate at our events.

For the charity sale this year, besides the various gift items we also sold home-made fun food and refreshing cool drinks. There were egg puffs, Chinese sponge cakes, grass jelly, almond crisps, snow chewy crisps, mochi bites, boba milk teas, sour plum drinks, and a special drink made with salty lime and 7-up.

In addition to our on-site guests, we also had audiences from other states and regions attending and supporting our live broadcast.

We are honored our ministry is being recognized and supported by local businesses. Our dinner on Aug 28 was fully sponsored by Facing East Taiwanese Restaurant.   Renton Highlands Dairy Queen and Facing East Taiwanese Restaurant sponsored gift certificates for the lucky draws.

If you’d like to watch re-cap snapshots of the fundraisers, our RM video geeks edited a condensed version of the events for you to enjoy.  Please scan the QR code at the end of the video to access the RM website and RM Facebook page to continue supporting us. You may also access our YouTube page to view the entire video.

Thank you for your great support!  We look forward to seeing you at next year’s fundraisers!

Dear Rainbow Missions family,

Last year and into this year, the pandemic turned our world upside down.  Many here and abroad became very ill; some died or lost loved ones from the coronavirus.  Borders around the world were closed.  Although we’ve been unable to travel to China to visit beloved young children with disabilities, their families, visually impaired college students and others with whom we’ve developed relationships over the years, we were still able to keep in touch electronically and provide loving physical and spiritual care and support through on-the-ground volunteers thanks to supporters of Rainbow Missions (RM) like you.

Last year we were able to follow safety protocols and celebrate RM’s 15th anniversary in August under dark blue skies with two drive-in outdoor events.  For the safety of all, we will do the same this year.  We invite you, your family and friends to join us!  This year’s theme is “Turning Crisis into Opportunity.”  The venue will again be the Kent Chinese Alliance Church parking lot (24711 94th Avenue South, Kent) -- but this time we will be able to sit outside with chairs brought from our own homes.

Come join us from 6:30 – 9 pm at one or both of our outdoor fundraising events.  The one on August 14 will be in English; the August 28 event will be in Cantonese.  We will have music, guest speakers, a delicious dinner, and fun activities for all.  Products will also be available for sale.

We look forward to seeing you!
